Three addresses, all read by a person. Pick the one that matches what you need and you will get a faster answer.

General questions, corrections, feature requests

hello@whatsmyip.fyi. Also the right address for press, data licensing and anything about the API.

Abuse

abuse@whatsmyip.fyi. Use this if traffic from our diagnostic tools reached your network. Include the timestamp with a time zone, the destination address and the port. Use the same address to ask that an address or range be excluded from the port, ping and traceroute tools; we honour those requests without argument.

Security

security@whatsmyip.fyi, or read /.well-known/security.txt. We will confirm receipt, tell you what we found, and credit you if you want the credit. Please give us a reasonable window before publishing.

Wrong location

Geolocation comes from the route your ISP announces, so it is often out by tens of kilometres and sometimes lands in the wrong country entirely. That is normal and it is not something we can fix for one person: the correction belongs with the data providers. If the result is badly wrong, send us the address family, the city we showed and the city you are actually in, and we will pass it upstream and note it in the transparency log.

We cannot tell you who owns an address. Registry data shows the network operator, not a subscriber. Only that operator, and usually only under legal process, can connect an address to a person. Requests to identify an individual will not be answered.

Legal notices
